Dr. Ann-Marie Neale’s Biography

Dr. Ann-Marie Neale is the Karen Horney Professor of Counseling and Psychology at the Graduate Theological Foundation in Mishawaka, Indiana. She supervises masters and doctoral projects and dissertations. In addition, Dr. Neale offers e-courses on Dr. Karen Horney’s Mature Theory of Personality Development and her theory of female development; on 12-Step Recovery Programs; on Logotherapy and 12 Step Spiritual Programs of Recovery; and on the special needs of Survivors and Responders to Disasters, terrorism and community trauma. She calls on her 10-year experience as a Disaster Mental Health Specialist for the American Red Cross when teaching her two courses on Disasters and Community Trauma. Dr. Neale is also a member of the Graduate Theological Foundation’s Doctoral Dissertation Review Panel.

Dr. Neale is an accredited member of the International Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna. She is a Life Time Member of the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy in Abilene, Texas. Dr. Neale is on the Faculty and is the Education Consultant for the Institute. Her responsibilities include teaching Introductory and Advanced courses in Logotherapy for the Distance Learning Program as well as teaching during the Pre-Congress Workshops. Dr. Neale also supervises Diplomate Projects and advises potential students about the Institute’s educational opportunities. She was recently appointed as Co-Editor of the International Forum for Logotherapy, the academic journal published twice yearly by the Institute. At the 21st World Congress Awards Banquet held on June 16, 2017 in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Neale was presented with The Rosemary Henrion Memorial Award for excellence in educational leadership.

Dr. Neale provides professional copyediting for academic papers, reports, memos, articles, dissertations, manuals, books, and other works. Her area of expertise is the field of psychology. She is also familiar with neuropsychology tests and reports. Dr. Neale is knowledgeable about the requirements of the American Psychological Association (APA) Style Manual.

Dr. Neale offers Life Coaching for adults 55 and older in their transition and search for meaning as retirees, empty nesters, adults facing loss, health concerns, and other issues of the normal aging process.

Dr Neale earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. She received her Academic Associate Credential and Diplomate in Logotherapy from the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy, Abilene, Texas. Her undergraduate education also includes a major in Literature and English. Prior to pursuing a career in Psychology, Dr. Neale graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing, Camden, New Jersey as a Registered Nurse and worked in the Operating Room, Cardiac and Pulmonary Critical Care, Mental Health specialty units and Orthopedics.

Psychology Department, Assistant Professor of Psychology); Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina (Adjunct Professor of Psychology); and St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, North Carolina (Adjunct Professor of Psychology). In addition, Dr. Neale was Assistant Director of the Counseling and Testing Center at the University of North Carolina, Pembroke where she counseled students and faculty as well as coordinated and supervised the drug and alcohol education program for the University. Dr. Neale was both a Psychotherapist and Quality Assurance Supervisor for providers of behavioral health care to residents of assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. For 10 years, she also served as a Mental Health Specialist for the American Red Cross. Dr. Neale was a phone counselor for Contact USA, a telephone crisis hotline and for the Emergency Mental Health Hotline in Jackson, Michigan.

Dr. Neale’s life is further enriched by her family and friends. Among other things, she enjoys reading mystery novels and biographies, doing crossword puzzles, writing poetry, exploring art museums, dabbling in amateur photography, playing the piano and spending quality time with family and friends. Having recently relocated from Florida to Boise, Idaho, Dr. Neale is enjoying the beauty of the West Coast, the magnificent Rocky Mountains, and the spectacular seasonal changes.
